These three pieces are examples of embellished turning. Two are pierced & painted w/air brush. The small round one is an exploration of abstract pyrography.
In this group of hollow forms two are spalted & bleached maple one is natural color quilted maple and the small one is Cocobolo & African Blackwood with a fine silver ring in the finial.
Rose bowl with incised and folded rim. These beautiful full shaped roses create a delicate bouquet circling the large open bowl measuring 13" across and 4.5" in height.
Wing Star Nebula II has dark, rich color throughout, plus a brilliant band that travels completely around it's diameter. The lovely blue is repeated in the wings and on the rim. Size: 10" ht x 9.5" at wings x 6" dia
Mike Kagan's Cherry with a Twist bowl is approximately 10" wide by 6" tall in, of course Cherry wood. This bowl was recently chosen for the PA Craft Exhibit at the State Museum in Harrisburg. Maine black cherry; spiral flutes are hand carved.
Mike Kagan's driftwood sculpture is named “In Pursuit”. The type of wood is unknown; hand carved to bring out the “bird of prey”. It is mounted on a Black Walnut base.
